In 1987, former Colorado Senator Gary Hart had his political career derailed by reports of an affair with 29-year old model Donna Rice. When a photo of Rice sitting on his lap surfaced, he was forced out of the race for the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination. He had been the heavy favorite following a close second-place finish in 1984. He restarted the campaign later that year, but he performed miserably and has been out of the public eye ever since.
